May 2018 Tabletalk
The May 2018 issue of Tabletalk will consider disappointment, failure, and hope in the Christian life. On the night Jesus was betrayed, He told His disciples, “In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Living in a fallen world, we find that our lives are full of disappointments and troubles. Often things do not work out as we want them to. Scripture is honest about this reality, yet it does not leave us hopeless in our disappointments. Instead, it assures us that if we are in Christ, we have an eternal hope that will finally overcome all that discourages us, a hope that we begin to experience on this side of glory and that we will experience in its fullness in the age to come. This issue will look at the twin themes of disappointment and hope from a biblical perspective, encouraging readers to approach disappointment from a biblically realistic perspective that recognizes its reality while seeing it in light of the everlasting hope we have in our Savior.
